On-page SEO and Off-page SEO: The Best Answer to Your Ranking Call

Does this two words ring a bell at all? Bloggers in blogging tips might have heard about it, new bloggers might not be that lucky, then I doubt it if bloggers in other niches have any idea about it.

 Well if I could remember, the last topic we treated on SEO was how to go about Meta description and I believe you all enjoyed the post? And now we're going to share some On-Page and Off-Page SEO Tips that can help every blogger and webmaster to get high ranking in search results. 


 Search Engine Optimization is a very important issue to deal with for every blogger who wants to get his/her blog dangling at the first page of Google search every time people search for keywords related to his blog.


 But you needs to understand the rudiments of SEO before doing it. There are thousands of video tutorials, articles, tutorials and a lot of media on the web where we can easily learn SEO basics. I've also shared some SEO tips here previously which were really important. Just navigate to the SEO label from the top menu to get more posts on SEO. But today, I'll be sharing some search engine optimization tips for getting high search ranking. So let’s roll. 



  On-Page SEO Tips



1. Keyword Research 


The first thing first in blog post if for you to know how many people are searching for the particular keywords you've chosen, and also how often were they search for on Google.


 Keyword research is one of the vital pivot of on page seo, and many proper keyword research are most times done with tools like Google Keywords planner. With these tools, you've to enter any keyword and after a little loading they will tell you that how much time that keyword is searched monthly and also from those countries, like I said earlier.


 For you to use Google keyword planner, you've to search some keywords related to the topic of your content and if any keyword is getting a lot of searches monthly then I recommend you use that keyword in your post title, permalink, search description or make it your main keyword of the topic. 


Once you applied it correctly, you’ll start getting traffic from search engines and if you have strong links pointing to that page, then you stand the chance of ranking high with the keyword.


 Once, If you got the best position with that keyword then you will easily get huge organic traffic.



  2. Optimized Post title 


Your post title is one big SEO shot you need to take note of. Placing well your keyword in your post title can go a long way in ranking the post high. The issue here now is that the post title is that it shouldn't cross 55 characters. This means you have to write a post title that has less character than 55. You can use some online tools to count the characters otherwise counting it manually will waste your time.

 The reason here is that Google show the first 55 character of all webpage in the search result, so if your post title exceed the normal limit it will definitely break. 



  3. Meta Description 


I recently wrote a post on Meta description, so you can go and read it. But for those who might not have the time, let me briefly tell you what Meta description is all about. 



The Meta Description is the thing that attracts the searcher to enter in your web page and become a visitor of you. It is a kind of description which describes a page or post to the search engine's crawler and the visitor from search results.


 However, the search engine bots also read and show the page in search result if it met the asked keyword used for searching by the visitor. 


 So, I urge you to write a perfect description which will attract the visitors and also that search engine robots will love it. The limit for the search description is 150 characters. Here is the detailed post on how to add meta description to your blogger blog. 



  4. Optimize your Images with ALT Tag and Title Attributes 


Fine, you write a post and definitely you’ll want to use some images to describe or give more meaning to your blog post. There is a need to optimize your images with the ALT and Title Attributes. 


You know what these attribute does? It tells the search engine's crawlers about the image, since search engine robots can’t reader images. Always try to add the main keywords and less than 5 word keyword in the image attributes for better SEO. These will help you to drive even more organic traffic from Image Search Engines.

  5. Optimize Custom Permalink


Optimizing the permalink is another great idea for boosting the organic traffic. Any blogger using blogger platform should know that we have two means by which you can use permalink. Either automatically from blogger itself or we create a custom one which you’ll have the opportunity to put your keyword.

 If you look into deep then you will find out that by default, blogger writes the first 10/12 words of the post title. If we manually create our custom permalink with the main keywords it will be better for SEO. 


 So, I urge you to write a short permalink filled with keyword for every post with less than 6/7 words.



  6. Internal Linking 


All have been said and done, but we wouldn't forget internal linking. Internal Linking is also an important factor which you've to improve on your blog, it is a situation whereby you connect your existing post/web pages on your blog that is related to the post you are publishing. 


 Actually, Internal linking helps the search engine's robots and crawlers to index your web page easily and quickly. This will also improve the bounce rate in Google Analytics and the readers will also enjoy it by getting a lot of content.

  7. Keyword Density


Does this word ring a bell to you? Probably you've heard it once or twice in search engine optimization. Let me try and break it down. When we talk about keyword density, we mean keyword overpopulation.


 This actually means using the main keyword of the topic again and again in the content, It is especially for those who write articles or text content for their blogs or. Most newbies are guilty of using the main words again and again to increase the total words of the content but they are unaware of the Keyword Density. 


 By Google standard, it is recommended that you use the main keyword in the content up to 2-5%, not doing this will lead to keyword density and it’s punishable by law which is done by Google Penguin. 



Off-page SEO Tips 


 Unlike what we've seen from on- page SEO, off-page SEO is the activities outside the boundaries of the webpage i.e. the ranking steps you took outside your blog. The most important are: 


• Link Building 

Social bookmarking
 • Social Media 
Now let’s look at them one after the other. 


Link Building 


Link building is the most popular and the most important off-Page SEO method. On a basic level, building external links to your website is like trying to put together as many ‘thumbs’ as you can so that you can bypass your competitors and rank higher. 


 Let’s take for instance now, when you like or reference this post from your blog. What you are trying to tell the search engine is that this web page has a very good information to offer.


 Over the years webmasters tried to build links to their websites so that they rank higher and they ‘invented’ a number of ways to increase link stats. The most known ways were:

Blog Directories – something like yellow pages but each entry was a link back to a website

Forum Signatures – Many people where commenting on forums for the sole purpose of getting a link back to their website (they included the links in their signature)

Comment link – The same concept as forum signatures where you comment on some other website or blog in order to get a link back. Even worse, instead of using your real name you could use keywords so instead of writing ‘comment by Alex Chris’, you wrote ‘comment by How to lose weight’ or anything similar.

Article Directories – By publishing your articles on an article directory you could get a link (or 2) back to your website. Some article directories accepted only unique content while other directories accepted anything from spin articles to already published articles.

Shared Content Directories – Websites like hubpages and infobarrel allowed you to publish content and in return you could add a couple of links pointing to your websites.
Social Bookmarking 

 Social bookmarking is not as popular as it used to be in the past, but I bet you it’s a very good method of off- page seo and also a good way to drive traffic to your website. 


Though depending on your niche anyway, but it has been confirmed that social bookmaking sites like reddit, digg, stumbleupon, Bizsugar, scoop.it and delicious are still very good source of off- page seo to promote your blog content. 


  Social Media


I’m telling you, you can just overlook the power of social media marketing. When you are done with on-page seo methods which are the ones we discussed above, you still have to socialize you content to make its flame burning well.


 Social media is definitely a part of off-page SEO, and also looking at it critically it’s a form of link building. You also need to note that almost all the links you get from social media sites are “no-follow” but this doesn't mean that it do not have is own value.
